Red Rider senior Jacob Hochstetler won his first two matches at the Division 3 district wrestling meet at Garfield Heights HS, putting him just one win away from qualifying to next weekends state meet in Columbus.

He dropped his championship semifinal match 2-1, placing him in the consolation bracket, still needing 1 win to advance to Columbus. He faced Brayden Phillips from Tuslaw, who he faced and defeated in the first round on Friday. Jacob was again victorious, winning 5-2 to officially secure his spot among 16 others from around the state in the 285 lb. weight class.

He went on to win his 3rd place match 6-2.

He will be the first Orrville wrestler to compete at state since Brad Potter in 2013.

Congrats Jake!!
