The Orrville girls track team capped off another successful season by placing 7th at the state track meet this past weekend in Columbus.
The Riders placed 7th with 19 team points & placed in the top 8 (earning All-Ohio honors) in the following events:
4×200 Relay team of Kiauna McDuffie, Alex Eby, Jessica Eby and Kayla Maximovich placed 7th
300m Hurdles: Jessica Eby placed 2nd with a school record & area record time of 43.36.
**Jessica capped a stellar track career in which she earned a total of SIX ALL-OHIO HONORS. Four in the 300 hurdles (5th in 2013, 2nd in 2014, 3rd in 2015, 2nd in 2016), 1 in the 4×400 relay in 2015, and 1 in the 4×200 relay in 2016. She was the second Red Rider track athlete to make it to state all 4 years in two different events (300 hurdles & 4×200 relay) & the second to make All-Ohio honors in 1 event all 4 years (the other in both circumstances was DeAnna Caldwell who qualified all 4 years in the 100m and 200m runs & was All-Ohio in the 100m all 4 years).
Pole Vault: Alex Eby finished 2nd with a vault of 11′ 6″ and freshman Karlie Lax finished 8th with a vault of 10′.
**It was the 4th straight year that a Red Rider vaulter placed in the top 8 and the 2nd time in 3 years that 2 Red Riders placed in the top 8.
100m Hurdles: Alex Eby finished 9th, just missing All-Ohio honors.
Congrats to the student-athletes and all the track coaches for the dedication to the program.
