The Orrville High School Sports Hall of fame is proud to announce the Induction Class of 2017.  This is the 14th induction class, dating back to the inaugural induction class in 1991.

The Class of 2017, in alphabetical order, is as follows:

Joel Beichler, Class of 2000. Football & track at OHS.  Earned 3 letters in football & was a defensive standout on the 1998 state championship team.  Year 2000 Division 2 State Champion in the discus.

Larry Croskey, Class of 1964. Football, baseball & wrestling at OHS. All-Conference and All-Beacon Journal linebacker on the 1963 undefeated football team. Longtime football and weight room coach.

Justin Holliday, Class of 2005. Football & track at OHS. 2004 Pole Vault State Champion in Division 2.

DeVonne Howard, Class of 2008. Track & basketball at OHS. Two-time state champion (2007, 2008) in the long jump. 11-time All-Ohioan in track. 2007 winning jump of 19’ 7 ¾” is still a state meet record for Division 2. Ran track collegiately at Akron University.

Matthew Johnson, Class of 2006. Baseball & basketball at OHS. All-OCC in baseball in 2005 & 2006. Played collegiately at College of Wooster. 2010 NCAC Player of the Year & 3rd team All American. Signed by the Toronto Blue Jays and played 4 years in the minor leagues.

Kyle Simmons, Class of 2007. Football, basketball & baseball at OHS. Recorded 4115 yards of offense (passing & rushing) his senior year of football.  2nd to Tim Hiller in career passing yards with 5763. 1st Team All Ohio & Division 4 co-player of the year as a senior in football.  Played football collegiately at Ohio Northern & professionally in Europe for the Nurnberg Rams.

Sly Slaughter, Class of 1993. Basketball & football at OHS. Point guard on the 1992 State Championship basketball team. Holds school record for assists in a career, season and game.  Played football collegiately at the College of Wooster.  Head coach of OHS boys basketball team, led team to state finals in first season as coach (2010).

TaNeisha Winters, Class of 2004. Volleyball & basketball at OHS. Only senior on 2003 state champion volleyball team. All-Ohio, District Player of the Year and Daily Record Player of the Year as a senior. Honorable Mention All-Ohio in basketball with top-10 career marks in scoring & rebounds. Roy Bates Award finalist in 2004. Play collegiate volleyball on full scholarship at Toledo & earned 4 varsity letters.

***Also being recognized is the 1999 Division 2 State Champion Boys Track team***

The induction of the Class of 2017 will take place on Saturday September 30th at OHS with dinner being served at 6pm in the cafeteria, with the induction to follow in the OHS Auditorium.  A reception will follow the induction in the Hall of Champions for family & friends to gather, take photos and share memories.
