Orrville had six wrestlers competing at the OHSAA Northeast Division III District tournament over the weekend. Freshman Cory Stiffler (126#), Sophomore Kollen Butler (132), Senior Austin Shaffer (138), Sophomore Wyatt Zimmerman (145), Senior Cameron VanBrunt (182) and Senior Sam Auble (220) fought their way through a District known for top-level competition. VanBrunt was the seasoned veteran as this was his third trip, while this was the second time Shaffer, Zimmerman and Auble qualified. Wrestling started on Friday night (3/2) with two rounds of championship rounds and one of consolation. By the end of the two-day tournament, all wrestlers had contributed a total of 48 team points, earning the Riders a 14th-place finish overall out of 52 teams. The road continues for VanBrunt and Auble who won their blood round matches to earn a berth to the State tournament March 8 – 10 in The Schottenstein Center at The Ohio State University. This will be the first trip to state for both wrestlers and is a great way for these seniors to end their awesome careers. Good luck Cam & Sam at State!
