Comments From Orrville Coach Kent Smith

“We really learned some things today.  Claudia had a fairly easy first match but played a really tough opponent from St. Vincent St. Mary in the championship.  Claudia didn’t play her best in the 1st set but her opponent just didn’t miss early on.  Claudia had not faced much adversity this season and she was able to really dig deep to turn the momentum around in that 2nd set.  You just can’t simulate in practice that type of pressure that there is in the championship match.  Coming out a #1 seed is huge for her draw next week in the district tournament.”

“I was really proud of our doubles team.  In the first match against the #1 seed between nerves and a really strong team things didn’t go very well.  Then from the get go in the consolation match Jenna and Jane played some fearless tennis.  They won some big points at the net and mixed in some good lobs to keep Manchester off balance.  To be unseeded in the tournament and come out a #3 seed is really quite the accomplishment.”
