In the first week of 2019 the Red Rider boys basketball team has started the year off right with a win on Wednesday versus Akron North and a second home win last night versus league foe Fairless. The Red Riders used good defense and balanced scoring to defeat a tough Fairless team. The Riders were paced by D’Vontez Brown and Cayden McDaniel, each scoring 14 points. Marquael Parks and Logan Domer also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points. Ben Summers added 5 points, as he was riddled with foul trouble all night. The Riders also got strong contributions off the bench from Cooper Haley (6 points), Ben Amstutz (5 points), and Jason Suppan (3 rebounds). The Riders continue their tough stretch of league games next week with a rescheduled game at league leading CVCA on Tuesday night, and then play host to Tuslaw on Friday, January 11th. With the two wins this week the Riders improve to 6-2 on the season and 2-1 in conference.
