With only 3 events scored thus far, the Lady Riders took an early lead in the team competition. Day one of the OHSAA Division II District Meet held at OHS saw 6 Lady Riders reserve their seat on the bus to Lexington for next week’s Regional Meet. Chloe Preston hit a lifetime PR of 4’10” in the high jump to claim 2nd place while Mikaila Carpenter did the same in the shot put. The 4x800m relay team of Maya Hamsher, Sierra Hamsher, Alyssa Plumley and Sedona Goodard ran the fastest time in over 13 years for an OHS 4×8 team posting a 10.00.84 to win the District Title.
Making the finals for Saturday’s Day 2 were Alex Eby and Karlie Lax, both in the 100m hurdles, Daysia Hargrave and Chloe Johnson in the 300m hurdles, Ashley Stiffler (100m), Goodard (400m), and Maya and Sierra Hamsher (800m). The 4x200m relay team of Goodard, Stiffler, Hargrave and Alexis Tillison knocked almost 3 seconds off of their season PR to qualify in the number 1 slot for the finals. The 4x400m relay team of Maya Hamsher, Hargrave, Goodard and Johnson also have the number 1 time going into finals. The 4x100m relay team of Stiffler, Tillison, Hargrave and Hailey Copeland qualified in the number 2 slot.
The 1600 and 3200 had no prelims Thursday and will be run as finals on Saturday. The girls will also pole vault, long jump and throw discus on Saturday.
Field events begin at 10:00 with running finals beginning at 11:30 at Red Rider Stadium.
